New generation passenger boarding bridge in Barcelona

TEAM completed in the Port ofBarcelona the installation of the New Generation Passenger Boarding Bridge "Creuers Barcelona", in-time to successfully service the Carnival Dream on its inaugural visit to the leading Mediterranean cruise port.TEAM, the world leading designer and manufacturer of sophisticated passenger boarding bridges for cruise and ferry terminals has completed the installation this week of the first of two new generation Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs) of the ‘’Creuers Barcelona’’ class to operate at the A and B cruise terminals on the Adossado Quay in the port of Barcelona, Spain. This morning TEAM’s newest boarding bridge was successfully placed into operation during the inaugural call of the Carnival Dream. Barcelona is the first port where the Carnival Dream is served by a sophisticated boarding bridge.TEAM was contracted in November 2008 by cruise operator Creuers del Port de Barcelona S.A. to design, manufacture and deliver two new generation Passenger Boarding Bridges capable of serving the current fleet of mega cruise ships and the newest mega vessels like the Carnival Dream, the Norwegian Epic and the ’Oasis’’ Class vessels of Royal Caribbean, which are equipped with overhanging life boats.TEAM’s new generation "Creuers Barcelona" class Passenger Boarding Bridge has the capability to move along the whole quay and is able to connect with the various levels of the cruise ship entry doors. The seaside cabin of the PBB is equipped with a uniquely integrated hydraulically powered, telescopic tunnel and docking ramp that, when attached to the side of a cruise ship automatically follows the vessel’s movements and will immediately undock in the event of an emergency. This PBB provides 6 meters clearance for the overhanging life boats of the newest mega cruise ships and clearance underneath the structure to allow continuous truck, equipment and supplies traffic on the quayside. TEAM’s Passenger Boarding Bridges are compliant with all up-to-date international safety and security standards.
